A look back at MCAF 2019
This last month has been so crazy, but I managed to send all my backers their books and attend MCAF. The Montreal Comic arts festival is my biggest show and might be the only one I do this summer. I am always tempted to do the Montreal Comiccon but I think I’d better wait until I have more books in my series.
MCAF has been by far my best year there. Here are some of the contributing factors. You can refer to the featured picture to see some of what I’m talking about.
- A better pitch. I found it very difficult to clearly explain de concept of the Interface but I believe I finally nailed it. I added the new pitch to my books in the store. You can read it here.
- Vertical rise. As suggested by another author, I purchased an interlocking grid system. This allowed me to display all my prints on a sort of wall on the side of my table. Many people stopped to look at it. It also allowed me to present my books and other merchandise a little better.
- I filled my tables with as much books as it could carry. I think this had a positive impact on the sales, if not on my back. Thankfully, I got some help to bring all that back to my car. Thanks guys!
- Having a second book. A large part of my sales were from people buying the 2 books. I think it just looks more like a serious project when there is more than 1 book.
I also want to take some time in the futur to write some notes on the Kickstarter campaign. These are always precious for future reference and I hope it might help others too!
