I was watching the Death Wish movies while working on this page, does it show?
It’s a strange series, I’m still not sure what to think about them. There are definitely some parts of this movie (the first mostly) that are uncomfortable, the violence is raw and direct. It certainly does well in portraying this. Yet certain parts are pretty corny I find the style of the punks very funny, specially Laurence Fishburne. It feels like they were going for a Clockwork Orange feel… Not sure which came first. It’s like they tried to rewrite Clockwork Orange into an apology for gun ownership.
Anyway, IMO it’s worth a watch, as are most of Charles Bronson’s movies.
